Because of Love / Mission Possible Cuba
Update after Hurricane Melissa & Our Work in Holguin, November 2025 Newsletter
Beloved friends, Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus. We’re grateful to share how the Lord has been moving in Cuba this past year and how your prayers and generosity are making an eternal impact.
Hurricane Melissa — A Season of Deep Need
The impact of Hurricane Melissa was heartbreaking. Homes were destroyed, crops were lost, and many families were left with almost nothing overnight. In the Holguin region, especially, countless people are still struggling to rebuild. Yet even amid the devastation, we have seen God’s mercy. Churches have become refuge centers, believers have shared what little they had, and many people—shaken but searching—have become more open to the hope of the gospel. Please continue to pray for those recovering. The need is great, but God’s compassion is greater.
New Beginnings
This year, the Lord led us to join CEO Ministries (Christians Empowering Organizations). This partnership allows us to:
Provide tax-deductible giving,
Receive guidance from seasoned mission leaders,
Work with people who understand the unique challenges of ministering in Cuba.
We also launched our website: www.becauseoflove.ca. Please visit to see the ministries and miracles God is unfolding.
What God Has Done This Year
In November 2024, through God’s mercy and your generosity, we were able to purchase a home for Pastors Ramon and Doralis and their daughter Nanny. This miracle changed their lives forever.
Nanny, whose serious medical condition once threatened her life, has improved dramatically. We believe the Lord has touched her, in part through the peace and stability of a new home.
God has expanded their ministry far beyond what any of us expected. Their home now shelters street-involved individuals, families visiting the hospital, and children in need of support. Some days they house 16–20 people. Their home has become a lighthouse of Jesus’ compassion.
Our November trip was delayed due to Richard’s open-heart surgery. By God’s grace, he is healing well, and we hope to return early next year once his strength is fully restored.
Many hearts in Cuba are hungry for the gospel, and we rejoice as many come to salvation through Jesus Christ.
Needs Before Us
The needs in Cuba are significant, especially after Hurricane Melissa, yet we trust God to supply through His people.
Teen Challenge Holguin
Their facility is under renovation and needs $12,000 to complete the work. This will allow them to minister to 25 men at a time—lives rescued from addiction and restored through Christ.
Solar Generators for Churches
With ongoing power outages—some lasting days—churches often worship in complete darkness. A solar generator (approx. $2,500) would bring light, sound, and safety to their gatherings.
Feeding Families and Pastors
We currently support two ministries with food. $200/month feeds a pastor and family, who generously share with others in need. It is beautiful to see photos of believers eating after church or bringing meals to the streets.
Mission Trip Sponsorships
Many feel called to join us but cannot afford the $2.000 cost. Sponsoring someone allows them to serve and also enables us to deliver essential supplies.
How You Can Join the Mission
Pray
Prayer is our most powerful ministry.
As Jesus said in Matthew 9:37–38, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”
Please pray for workers, open hearts, and strength for those serving in the midst of hardship.
Give What You Can
Even the smallest gift—a tube of toothpaste, a pain reliever, a bag of rice—becomes a blessing in God’s hands.
Support Financially
Your gifts help us bring food, medicine, spiritual resources, and practical help to those who are suffering.
